All roads lead to Aden for Drive It Day event
A host of classic and vintage cars are to make their way to Aden Country Park on Sunday 24th April as part of the annual Drive It Day event.
Organised by the Garioch Vehicle Restoration Society the event has been designed to commemorate the 64 cars that set off from London on 23rd April 1900 on a Thousand Mile Trial – an incredible undertaking and one which we believe deserves an annual celebration.
The event starts at 9.30am at the Beach Esplanade in Aberdeen where a range of vintage and classic cars will meet before setting of through Pitmedden, Tarves, Methlick, New Deer, Maud before arriving at Aden Country Park at approximately 11am where the cars will then be on display in the courtyard area of the park.
Visitors are invited to come along to see the cars on show with an opportunity to chat to the owners and to get an insight in the fascinating story behind each car.
Linda Bolger, Friends of Aden said:
“This is a new event for Aden Country Park so we hope the weather is kind and people come and enjoy the rare opportunity of seeing a wide range of vintage and classic cars in the park”
Drive it Day is a free event where all are welcome. Visitors will also be treated to a fine cake and cuppa at the Café at Aden, a souvenir from the Aden Craft & Gift Shop or a chance to visit the Aberdeenshire Farming Museum. Due to ongoing capital works access to the Farming Museum is however limited.
